Ink “Hard Card FD” Fingerprint Applicants
Who Needs FBI FD-258 Ink Fingerprinting?
Individuals must submit an FD-258 ink fingerprint card to obtain an FBI-level criminal background report. This report is often necessary for job applications, licensing, permits, or certifications that are based outside of California or the U.S. Some people may also seek to check their criminal records for accuracy, personal reasons, or at the request of their attorney.
In California, applicants generally need to provide fingerprints through a digital live scan process rather than using traditional ink cards.
